Event Description

Delve into geoscience with DIG Day! Engineers and Geoscientists BC is partnering with the Britannia Mine Museum for this fun and educational event. Chat with professional geoscientists about volcanoes, fossils, dinosaurs, minerals, and more. Come see just how cool geoscience can be! For more information please click the link below.

About the Event

There will be several special activity stations set up just for DIG Day. Pop by the Britannia Mine Museum to explore these added attractions from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM.

Explore the different activity stations to learn more about an aspect of geology. Activity stations include:

  • Volcano Station: Instantly grow crystals between microscope slides and explore different types of volcanic rock, from glass to bombs.
  • Rock and Mineral Station: Learn about the environments rocks form in and discover how minerals make them useful to us.
  • Seismology and Tectonics Station: Try our 'Pangea' jigsaw puzzle or build a structure on a shake table. How stable of a structure can you build.
  • General Geoscience and Careers: Learn more about the differences between the main branches of geoscience and what careers there are in this field.

No pre-registration is necessary for this event. If you would like to receive the Engineers and Geoscientists BC discount, make sure to bring your member card with you and show it at the admissions desk.
