Discipline Notice: Ye Ming (Yeming) Li, P.Eng., Struct.Eng.

As of February 3, 2025, Mr. Li’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is suspended for a period of one month.
In the Consent Order, Mr. Li admitted that he conducted an independent concept review of structural drawings, which were designed and submitted by another registrant, in support of a building permit application to the City of Powell River. The drawings were incomplete with respect to the gravity and lateral force resisting elements and contained numerous deficiencies. Mr. Li’s review of the drawings was inadequate and failed to identify the deficiencies.
In the Consent Order, Mr. Li admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct related to the review and agreed that he failed to document the deficiencies in the structural design of the drawings, including the inadequate details regarding the connections between the interior shear walls to the roof diaphragm and the continuation of load paths to the foundation. Mr. Li agreed that he acted contrary to Principle 1 of the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Code of Ethics which requires registrants to hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public.
During the suspension period, Mr. Li must provide a declaration that he has read and is familiar with the Engineers and Geoscientists BC guideline on independent reviews for structural designs and complete the Professional Engineering and Geoscientists Practice in BC Online Seminar.
In April 2025, Mr. Li must complete an educational course on structural design. Six months after the conclusion of the suspension period, Mr. Li must undergo a practice review conducted by the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Audit and Practice Review Committee.
Mr. Li paid $5,500 toward the legal and investigative costs of Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
