Discipline Notice: Seyed-Ahmad Pishvaei

Dr. Pishvaei’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is suspended for six months. When Dr. Pishvaei agreed to the 2025 Consent Order, he was already suspended as the result of a previous Consent Order he entered into in 2024 related to the engineering services he provided for a project involving glass guard rails in Pemberton, BC.
The six-month suspension arising from the 2025 Consent Order will begin after Dr. Pishvaei completes the educational courses required by the 2024 Consent Order.
As set out in the 2025 Consent Order, between 2016 and 2019, Dr. Pishvaei provided engineering services for a residence in North Vancouver. Dr. Pishvaei authenticated deficient structural drawings for the project which lacked adequate detail including regarding the shear wall requirements, drag strut locations, and the end connection requirements for engineered wood beams.
In the 2025 Consent Order, Dr. Pishvaei admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct relating to the project, and agreed that, among other things, he failed to:
- perform the necessary calculations to ensure the project was designed in accordance with the 2012 British Columbia Building Code; in particular, he failed to ensure that the design had sufficient capacity to resist soil loads and seismic loads;
- ensure regular, documented checks of his engineering work on the project were conducted using a written quality control process; and
- ensure that documented independent reviews were conducted of his structural designs for the project.
As outlined in the 2025 Consent Order, prior to the end of his suspension, Dr. Pishvaei must complete several Engineers and Geoscientists BC educational courses. Following the conclusion of the suspension, Dr. Pishvaei will be subject to direct supervision by a professional engineer who has been approved by Engineers and Geoscientists BC for a period of four months.
Six months after the conclusion of the direct supervision period, Dr. Pishvaei must undergo a practice review conducted by the Audit and Practice Review Committee.
Dr. Pishvaei paid $10,000 towards the legal and investigative costs of Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
