Engineering Experience Competency Assessors

Purpose

The Engineering Experience Competency Assessors play a vital role in the application process of prospective registrants.

Each assessor is a highly valued volunteer who helps to maintain the integrity of the application process by conducting independent professional reviews and providing honest and constructive feedback regarding the applicant's qualifications and readiness for professional practice.

The recommendations of the Engineering Experience Competency Assessors are provided to the Credentials Committee, an Engineers and Geoscientists BC statutory committee, for approval.

Duties and Expectations

  • Conducted online and independently, assessors will be looking at an applicant’s background information, application form, work experience details, and references.
  • A typical review will take approximately 1–2 hours to complete.
  • The number of reviews requested of you will depend on the number of applications submitted related to your area of practice.
  • These assessments can be done at the time and location of the assessor’s choice within one month of receiving it.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Currently an Engineers and Geoscientists BC professional registrant;
  • Have at least three years as a registered professional (in any jurisdiction) in your stated area of practice;
  • Registrants employed in senior roles are preferred.
Engineers and Geoscientists BC is looking to recruit assessors in all disciplines however we urgently require assessors in the following:
  • Chemical
  • Civil
  • Computer
  • Electrical
  • Environmental
  • Mechanical
  • Petroleum
  • Software
  • Structural

Measures of Success

The successful volunteer will:
  • Conduct professional reviews; and
  • Provide honest and constructive feedback regarding the applicants’ qualifications.
