Nomination Committee Composition
The Committee is comprised of 7 members appointed by the Board. The membership of the Committee must include the Immediate Past Chair, the Branch Representatives Chair, and at least 1 lay person. The current members of the Nomination Committee are listed below:
Mark Adams, P.Eng.
Immediate Past Board Chair, Chair of the Nomination Committee
Mark Adams, P.Eng., is currently Vice President and Global Minerals & Metals Market Lead at AtkinsRéalis. He has worked in the mining industry for nearly 20 years in project, engineering, operations, and technology roles. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, both from the University of British Columbia, as well as executive education from Oxford and Aalto Universities and the Institute of Corporate Directors. Alongside his professional work, Mark is dedicated to various non-profit organizations that advocate for youth, seniors, veterans, education, healthcare, and engineering. He served as a reserve officer in the Canadian Armed Forces for 13 years and currently holds positions on several boards and committees, notably the UBC Mining Industry Advisory Committee and the UBC Faculty of Applied Science Dean’s Advisory Council. He has been volunteering with Engineers and Geoscientists BC for over 10 years, having previously served on the Continuing Education and Professional Practice advisory groups, and the Audit, Governance, and Executive sub-committees. Mark has been recognized for his work with awards such as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, and the Canadian Mineral Processors' Ray MacDonald Volunteer Award. In addition, he was included on Business in Vancouver's 40 Under 40 list and was named one of the 500 Most Influential Business Leaders in BC in 2022.
Dr. Brian Guy, P.Geo.
Committee Member
Dr. Brian Guy, P.Geo., was awarded the Westerman Award in 2017 in recognition of his contribution to the profession of geoscience in BC and across Canada. He earned his B.Sc. in Geography from UBC followed by his M.Sc. and PhD in Water Resource Engineering from the University of Guelph.
Brian has been a business leader and has served on several corporate and not-for-profit boards. He lives and works (semi-retired) in Vernon, BC, and he has been a strong advocate for both preparing for and minimizing the human contribution to climate change, and for women in engineering. Perhaps most impressive is his personal investment in establishing or strengthening groups and initiatives that lead to effective resource management decisions, especially in water management—from his support of basic science at the community level with the Okanagan Science Centre, to years of leadership with more broadly influential bodies such as the Canadian Water Resources Association and the Okanagan Basin Water Board. He currently serves on the city council and co-chairs a council committee in his home community of Vernon.
Brian also serves on the Standing Awards Committee with Engineers and Geoscientists BC and was previously a GIT Experience Reviewer for 11 years.

He has held various positions with companies including project management of small projects, managing small branch offices for big consulting firms, working as a facilities engineer in the oil and gas industry, and owning his own business. All of these roles led him to furthering his education in hazard analysis and risk management, which landed him his current role with the BC Oil and Gas Commission. In this role, he is responsible for safety oversight for the BC Oil and Gas Commission and uses his diverse skill set on a daily basis.
Christopher has previously been a volunteer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC on the Sustainability Advisory Group and is the immediate Past Chair and NEGM Coordinator of the Peace River Branch. Prior to that, he served as the Peace River Branch Chair for 3 years from 2016–2019 as well as the Treasurer.
When he is not working, Christopher can be found competing in various activities with his wife, out with his dogs, or on the golf course when there isn’t 5ft of snow burying them.
