Reduction of Annual Fees

Qualifying for Reduction of Annual Fees Due to Financial Hardship

A practising professional registrant, professional licensee, or trainee who is renewing their registration and who is experiencing financial hardship that renders them unable to pay the full annual fee is eligible to apply for a reduced annual fee. To qualify for the reduced fee, a registrant must have an annual Active Income* of $40,000 or less, will be requested to provide a short explanation of their current situation, and may be audited from time to time and requested to supply proof of income and eligibility to pay the reduced annual fee. Prorated registrant or trainee fees, one-time registration/licence fees, and the special levy are not eligible for fee reduction.

Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia registrants are also exempted from paying an annual fee if they have a medical condition that renders them unable to work.

*Active Income includes gross income from all employment or director’s fees and/or net income from self employment. It does not include pension or other retirement income, investment income, unemployment insurance income, support payments, scholarships, bursaries or disability income. All other sources of income are considered “active.”

Reduced fees due to financial hardship and exemption from paying the annual fee due to a medical condition may be requested during the online renewal and fee payment process, and requires that you provide a short explanation of your current situation. To renew your registration online, please log into your registrant account.
