Below are answers to frequently asked questions for continuing education presenters.

1. Who is our target audience?
Your audience will be comprised mostly of professional engineers, professional geoscientists, and trainees. Some non-registrants may also be in attendance.

2. What current topics are being offered to registrants?
We offer a wide variety of topics to our registrants—everything from technical sessions to business and managerial courses. Please visit the Continuing Education Events page to view our latest sessions.

3. What topics are of interest to the membership?
Knowledgeable speakers who provide the audience with useable and relevant information are in demand. We ask presenters not to actively sell their products or services during their presentations.

4. Typically, what is the length of the seminars that are offered?
Most speakers will decide the time frame that is the most optimal for their seminars. Currently we offer half-days, full-days and multi-days seminars.

5. How much time is needed to plan a seminar?
Normally a seminar is planned and advertised with a minimum of six to eight weeks in advance to give adequate time for registration and preparation.

6. How much time is needed to confirm if a seminar is proceeding?
Seminars are confirmed two weeks in advance. As our events work on a cost-recovery basis, it is sometimes necessary to cancel seminars due to low registration. We will advise you two weeks in advance should a cancellation be needed.

7. Who will coordinate the seminar and manage the registration process?
A Continuing Education Coordinator will plan and register all attendees.

8. Who will coordinate the printing of handouts?
We will print and handle all materials necessary for all seminars. Handouts will be packaged and distributed during registration.

9. Will equipment be provided by Engineers and Geoscientists BC for the seminar?
We will provide all basic necessary equipment for the seminar (example: projector, laptop, and screen). If any special equipment (example: microphone, flip chart, whiteboard, etc.) is needed please contact your designated Continuing Education Coordinator.

10. How does Engineers and Geoscientists BC determine the location and venue for its seminars?
Seminars are held throughout British Columbia. The exact location will be determined by you and your designated Continuing Education Coordinator.

11. Who will facilitate the seminar?
If the event is in the Lower Mainland area, a designated Continuing Education Coordinator will be a facilitator at the seminar. In the case that the event is out of town, arrangements will be made for a substitute facilitator.

12. How do I submit a proposal?
All proposals must be submitted through our Call for Presenters form.

13. What is the proposal selection process?
Part of maintaining a high-quality continuing education program is understanding the needs of engineers and geoscientists in the province. The needs of our registrants drive the continuing education programming that is selected. All speaker proposals will be reviewed and selected presenters will be notified.

14. What are the benefits of being a presenter?
Engineers and Geoscientists BC provides speakers with the opportunity to:
