Canadian Council of Ministers of the EnvironmentImplementation Framework for Climate Change Adaptation Planning at a Watershed Scale
This implementation framework provides watershed managers with a structured process to identify and reduce climate vulnerability and risk, as well as build resiliency within the watershed.
City of VancouverCoastal Flood Risk Assessment: Final Report
This study assessed the effects of the projected sea level rise combined with selected design events on the City of Vancouver’s floodplain in order to develop appropriate future management strategies for flood prone areas.
Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals SocietyA Framework to Assess Climate Change Impacts on Contaminated Sites in British Columbia
This framework document provides tools for practitioners to consider climate change hazards during site investigations and risk management of contaminated sites. The framework aims to identify the climate change hazards most likely to affect a contaminated site based on its location and site characteristics, evaluate the potential impacts of those hazards, and conduct a climate change vulnerability assessment for a given contaminated site in BC.
Engineers CanadaThe Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee’s (PIEVC) Engineering Protocol is a structured and documented process for engineers to assess infrastructure component responses to the impacts of climate change. The resulting observations, conclusions, and recommendations provide a framework to support effective decision-making. The optional Triple Bottom Line module allows the user to develop and assess potential solutions based on social, environmental, and economic criteria.
Government of British ColumbiaPreliminary Strategic Climate Risk Assessment for British Columbia
This report considers climate risks in the 2050s (2040–2059) in BC to help the provincial government proactively prepare for the changing climate. The report includes the highest-ranked risks facing the province in 2050 and represents the first phase of a Climate Action Secretariat initiative to better understand and prioritize climate risk in the province and help government develop appropriate measures to address those risks.
The German Federal Enterprise for International CooperationThe Vulnerability Sourcebook aims to support efforts to substantiate and enhance adaptation and development planning. The sourcebook is of interest to institutions that are engaged in activities at the intersection of climate change and sustainable development.
US Environmental Protection AgencyClimate Resilience Evaluation and Awareness Tool provides a framework for water utility owners to evaluate potential impacts of climate change and identify adaptation options to address impacts using both traditional risk assessment and scenario-based methods. For use in Canada, the user must input historical and projected climate data for their utility through the “user-defined” data set.
US Department of Transportation Federal Highway AdministrationThe Vulnerability Assessment Scoring Tool is an indicator-based screening method for assessing vulnerability and provides a framework for collecting information about indicators of each vulnerability component and operationalizes that information into relative vulnerability scores.
Environment and Climate Change CanadaThe Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan - Integrating Climate Change Adaptation Considerations into Federal Contaminated Sites Management document provide a 10-step framework that outlines the specific activities, requirements, and key decisions to effectively address federal contaminated sites in Canada.
