Engineers and Geoscientists BC registrants elected two new Board members and re-elected a current Board member in the 2024/25 Board election.

In an August 14, 2024, Consent Order, Dr. Seyed-Ahmad Pishvaei, P.Eng., admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct in relation to the engineering services he provided. As of September 3, 2024, Dr. Pishvaei’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is suspended for a period of four months.

In a July 25, 2024, Consent Order, Edward Nunn admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct in relation to the engineering services he provided for the design and installation of several sewerage systems in the Kootenays. Mr. Nunn’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled.

The annual Registrant Insights Survey found most registrants feel Engineers and Geoscientists BC is performing well as a regulator that is accountable to the public. The survey asked questions about the organization’s performance and registrants’ level of trust and understanding with the organization.

Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Board has approved funding an additional $500,000 for the BC Society of Engineering and Geoscience (BCSEG) – the new advocacy body for the professions. The funding will provide initial operating support for BCSEG until it begins accepting members in early 2025.

This year’s Regulatory Learning Module focuses on the duty to report — a critical component of self-regulation in professional engineering and geoscience. Practising registrants are required to complete a new Regulatory Learning Module every year as part of their Continuing Education.

Engineers and Geoscientists BC and the Architectural Institute of BC (AIBC) issued a joint statement today to provide clarity on the Architects Regulation and the role of engineering professionals and architects in the repair, renewal, and rehabilitation of existing buildings.
