Continuing Education Program Overview

The practices of engineering and geoscience are constantly evolving. Continuing education supports registrants in their efforts to stay current with changes, which is necessary for maintaining competency and fulfilling registrants primary duty to protect the public and the environment with respect to the practice of professional engineering and geoscience.

Professional registrants must complete Continuing Education (CE) Program requirements in their online account between July 1 and June 30 each year.

Guide to the Continuing Education Program

The Guide to the Continuing Education Program provides the details of the CE Program, as defined in the Bylaws of Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Registrants can also review this video for an introductory explanation of the CE Program.

Applicability

Professional Registrants

The CE Program is mandatory for all professional registrants i.e., those having practice rights in BC. Registrants concerned with meeting the June 30 deadline can consider these alternative options for continuing education reporting.

CE requirements for newly registered and reinstating professionals are explained in sections 3.1.4 and 3.1.5 of the Guide to the Continuing Education Program.

Individuals Without Practice Rights

Individuals without practice rights must complete the 10-minute Annual Reporting submission between May 1 and June 30 each year and are not required to complete Continuing Education Program requirements. Annual Reporting is separate from Continuing Education reporting; see the Annual Reporting webpage for information regarding its applicability and exclusions.
